Composition and key members of the Committee for the Safeguarding of the Art of Italian Opera Singing

Our organization is guided by a committee dedicated to the enhancement and promotion of opera singing, an art form that represents an indispensable part of Italy’s cultural heritage.

President:

Institutional Promoters:

  • National Association of Lyric-Symphonic Foundations (ANFOLS): chaired by Fulvio Macciardi, with Pierangelo Conte as contact person.

  • Association of Italian Theatres of Tradition (ATIT): chaired by Luciano Messi.

  • Assolirica: chaired by Roberto Abbondanza.

  • Fondazione Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia: directed by Massimo Biscardi, with Massimiliano Tonsini as contact person.

  • Fondazione Teatro alla Scala: Fortunato Ortombina serves as Superintendent and Artistic Director, with Mariano Festa as contact person.

Experts:

  • Francesco Bellotto: stage director and musicologist, contact person for the Training Working Group.

  • Orietta Calcinoni: phoniatrician, Treasurer of the Committee.

  • Carmelo Di Gennaro: musicologist and music critic, Head of Communications.

  • Rosanna Savoia: opera singer and lecturer.

  • Marco Tutino: composer.

The day-to-day management and coordination of initiatives are entrusted to the General Secretariat of the Italian Ministry of Culture (MIC), Service II – UNESCO Office, ensuring that all actions are fully aligned with international standards for cultural conservation and promotion.
